Joan became part of the Rock Creek family in 1998 and became a staff member in 2002. In her role as Counselor, she sees individuals, couples, and families for psychological, emotional and spiritual support. Problems may be related to depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, marriage counseling, or help with a family member. Along with her staff duties, Joan also leads a Life Group in her home.
Joan received her BA in Social Welfare from the University of AR in Fayetteville and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of AR in Little Rock. She is credentialed as a Licensed Certified Social Worker. She has practiced as a psychotherapist for over 30 years, working many of those years in a Christian Psychiatric Clinic.
Joan says she loves her family, friends, church and home. However, her favorite time is spent with her granddaughters—Jessie, Amani, Tessa, and her “God-granddaughter” Kye. Her favorite place to enjoy nature is on her back deck which is like a “chapel in the woods.”
“Counseling is what God has called me to do and I feel blessed to be able to so professionally within my church family.”
